St. John CONNECTS-a new effort to keep us engaged and share our resources

Are you are missing our connections with each other in real time? I sure am! In thinking about how we can foster a close-knit faith community during this pandemic, it occurred to me that something like a neighborhood online forum might help. If you think so too, please join our new initiative-St. John CONNECTS. What is it? Read on…

Would you like to start a book group? Give something away that is usable but you don’t want it anymore? Borrow a tool or something else? Talk about an idea or subject with like-minded people? Join together to do something needed in your community? Do you need help cleaning up your yard or looking for someone to do some work for you? Do you have something to sell that another might need?

If you answered “yes” to any of those questions or have other ideas of how we can CONNECT during this time of physical separation, please join our online forum. The only guideline is that the request or project must be helpful to yourself and/or others. All CONNECT requests are the responsibility of the person who creates the connection. Simply put, you start it and you complete it. The SLC has given approval of this initiative and the implementation is driven by members and friends of St. John Church. CONNECT is not a responsibility of the Pastor or staff.

Some in our church family do not have access to the internet. If you do not have internet access and would like to communicate or place a request through CONNECT, please let me know at sandyleek@hotmail.com. I will seek out someone to partner with you so that you can participate. If you are willing to be a partner to someone without internet access please let me know.

If you want to be part of St. John Connects, please go to the St. John UCC webpage and join the group, “St. John Connects” or link directly at https://www.facebook.com/groups/stjohnconnect/ . The goal is to have it up and ready to go by November 23, 2020 or shortly thereafter. Take a look!
