We are searching for a Director of Music who will provide musical collaboration and leadership for the worship life of the congregation.

The Director of Music is a part-time position equivalent to 15 hours per week paying ($275.00 to $375.00) commensurate with experience. The position earns 75 professional hours (5 weeks) paid-time-off, and 45 personal hours (three weeks) paid-time-off annually; beginning at start date/after 3 months. Professional and personal hours should be taken in 15-hour increments and requested by email 30 days in advance and approved by the Pastor.

Reporting to the Pastor, the Director of Music is responsible for direction of the Chancel Choir and keyboard music for all worship services, relating closely with the choir, in-house and guest musicians, and members of the congregation. The Director will strive to support the spiritual growth of the Church by incorporating a variety of musical styles and genres into the music program; and creating environments to utilize, nurture, and grow the musical gifts of congregants.

Duties include, although are not limited to:
• In consultation with the Pastor, oversee the vision and direction of worship music.
• Participate in worship planning and attend staff meetings.
• Hold rehearsals as appropriate; prepare the small choir ensemble to lead the congregation in all aspects of worship (responsive readings, unison readings, etc.); select and schedule all keyboardists and musicians and assist in selection of appropriate repertoire; and oversee all keyboard elements of worship service.
• Supervise paid section leaders/soloists.
• Engage, encourage, and utilize musicians from the congregation; build network of musicians external to the Church to implement a wide variety of musical expression.
• Select diverse styles of music to coincide with worship themes, expressing a progressive and inclusive theology of the Christian faith.
• Plan and provide music information for promotion and publication, including copyright and license notations.
• Assist with budget planning for music-related needs of the Church
• Oversee service/maintenance of all musical instruments of the Church.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
• Dependable, flexible, and personable
• Enjoys teaching and encouraging others to develop their musical gifts
• Demonstrated management, communication, and organizational skills
• Proficient pianist with competency in sight reading

Preferred Requirements/Qualifications:
• Experience performing diverse styles of music
• Experience with religious music
• Experience with worship planning
• Experience leading a small choir ensemble
• Experience playing and working with a pipe organ
